My obsession with joggers
As a woman who works from home and goes on daily walks, my only obsession is comfortable clothing for my bottom half.
Dear Anyone,
As someone who works from home, I am obsessed with being comfortable. Like, really obsessed. Like if I can’t sit in the clothing and be ready to nap in it, then I don’t want it. Which essentially means I have become a snob for fancy sweats.
I will defend myself a little. I have chronic pain and need to be sitting with a heating pad most of the day, so having comfortable clothing is one thing that I don’t have to worry about. If something is itching my arm or squeezing my stomach, it is going to Goodwill or in the trash because, to be honest, I don’t have time or the patience to be uncomfortable.
This is not to say that I also don’t want to look good, I have some pride in my self appearance and, therefore, have done thorough research and purchases to find what is the most flattering for my body while also being the most comfortable.
There are, of course, other considerations as well. I walk my dog three times a day and live in the Midwest, so currently, we have eight inches of snow on the ground, and it is 20 degrees outside, so I need a little more clothing. While during the summer, when it is 100 degrees, I sweat throughout the entire day and need more lightweight clothing. I am also a woman, and let’s be honest, some clothing does not fit right on certain days of the month.
My obsession really kicked off during COVID, when everyone was depressed, angry at the world, and ready to see someone other than those who they were locked in the house with. As a country and really globally, we all got in comfy clothes to wait out the disaster that hit the world. I happily joined in and never looked back.
I was already in the Lululemon group and had multiple pairs of leggings and sports bras (the best for those of us who need some support). I also jumped on board with the Athleta band. Once the brands started to figure out we all wanted to be comfortable, I felt like EVERYONE started making athleisure and it started with joggers. Now, there are too many to count and it depends on your price range, but these are the best ones I have found and tried.
Spanx
I have a few pairs of their air essential pants and have, overall, really liked them. They are super comfortable and give you more of an elevated look. You can dress them up or down, which isn’t the case with all joggers. All of their pants aren’t skin tight either; I wear a size small or x-small.
The tapered pant was my first pair and still one I wear every week.
The wide-leg pant is a pair I just got and are a little long on my 5’2 frame but look great with tennis shoes or boots. This is the pant you can really dress up and be really cozy.
The joggers are the most casual but my favorite for traveling in, I also have the matching sweatshirt which just completes the outfit.
My one issue with these pants is they don’t have pockets. Like come on, I need somewhere to put my phone, snacks, and air pods…. I got a lot of shit to carry around!
Athleta
This brand has too many joggers to count. If you are looking for a wide range of joggers, go to a store and try them all on. They have joggers that look better for a night out and ones that are straight sweatpants, but like I said, I am more of a sweatpant gal.
I have had these joggers the longest and hold up. Again, size small to x-small.
The salutation pants are one of the most popular. These pants are soft, have pockets, and hug your body.
The Softluxe jogger is their softest jogger but also has a more casual look.
The coaster luxe jogger has a fleece lining, which makes it great for walking outside. I am honestly talking myself into another pair right now.
The venice is the nicest looking pair but again so comfortable.
Lululemon
My first ever pair of joggers came from Lulu, they were the align joggers and I had them for nine years before they started to pill and essentially started to look like I had them for nine years. I haven’t gotten another pair as I have wanted to try new ones, but I will always recommend them.
I do currently have the dance studio joggers, which are very lightweight so I don’t wear them a lot in the winter, but I love them during the fall and spring months. I wear a size 4 or 6.
I know the trendy ones are the scuba joggers, and I do have the scuba sweatshirt but the joggers look SO WEIRD on me. They were too big in all the wrong places, but I did get them for my sister-in-law and they look great on her. I think only tall people can pull these off.
For men, my husband only wears the Lululemon joggers during the winter, to say he is obsessed is an understatement. He wears the ABC joggers and the textured double-knit cotton jogger.
Vuori
Currently, I am (1) wearing these joggers and (2) wash them every day so I can re-wear them multiple times a week. The performance jogger is soft, and lightweight but also keeps me warm. I wear a size small.
Aritzia
I may be late to the game, but I finally hopped on the Aritzia train and got their cozy fleece mega sweatpants, which has fulfilled my Sunday cozy dreams. They are oversized pants that I throw on for Sunday errands that are also very warm. I wear a size small for more of an oversized look.
Outdoor Voices
The cloudknit sweatpant are super stretchy, like I would do yoga in these. I don’t wear them as much though. It was my fault, I started painting a room in them and now have paint all over them. But now I am comfortable while painting my house! Can’t complain! I wear a size x-small or small.
Eddie Bauer
This may be the surprising one, but it is the one pair of pants that I wear daily during the months that we are at 32 degrees or below. The Eddie Bauer fleece-lined joggers are like snow pants, in fact, I have worn them as snow pants before, and was warm. I HATE when my legs are cold during the winter, so I wear these for all of my walks with my dog over leggings or just by themselves. Either way, my legs stay warm. I have three pairs of these in a size x-small and small.
There are too many joggers on the market these days, but the ones I want to try are the Varley joggers, the Eterne joggers, and the Split59 joggers. Essentially, please subscribe so I can make money to afford these.
I hope my husband doesn’t read this article, he may (finally) realize all our money has been going to my jogger addiction…
Truly,
Someone
